Wales forward Brennan Johnson has been tipped to flourish at Everton after joining David Moyes's side from Crystal Palace, in a swap deal that saw winger Dwight McNeil move the other way to Selhurst Park. Former Wales international Lee Trundle believes Johnson's pace and finishing will suit Moyes's coaching and predicts Everton fans will quickly embrace him once he starts scoring, potentially even as an emergency number nine given the inconsistent form of current strikers Beto and Thierno Barry.

Johnson, 25, has signed a four-year deal at Hill Dickinson Stadium and brings a strong pedigree, having won the Europa League with Tottenham and the Conference League with Palace last season. However, ex-Wales striker Nathan Blake cautioned that Everton's demanding fanbase, despite the club's 31-year trophy drought, will expect quick results, warning that pressure will mount if Johnson fails to perform in his first 10 to 15 games. McNeil, meanwhile, has also signed a four-year contract at Palace after an "inconsistent" four-year spell at Everton in which he scored 15 goals and provided 19 assists in 128 appearances.
