Jon Bernthal’s Sleeper Hit Spy Thriller Is Officially Dominating Prime Video

Collider · 3 hours ago

Jon Bernthal is enjoying a surge in streaming popularity, with two of his 2025 films climbing the charts as they ride a wider wave of interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars he worked alongside this year. The trend follows renewed viewership for Tom Holland's earlier films and Zendaya's The Drama topping HBO Max, suggesting audiences are seeking out the trio's back catalogues after the success of The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This has translated into a notable boost for Bernthal, who also headlined the Netflix hit His & Hers earlier in the year.

The two films in question are action sequel The Accountant 2 and Prime Video spy thriller The Amateur, both released theatrically in 2025 with similar box-office totals. The Accountant 2 grossed $103 million worldwide against an $80 million budget, while The Amateur, starring Rami Malek alongside Bernthal, Rachel Brosnahan, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Stuhlbarg and Caitríona Balfe, took $96 million against a $60 million budget. Both were designed to build momentum after their home-video releases and have strong audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes (92% and 87% respectively), helping drive their current streaming success.
