Jon Stewart to Remain ‘Daily Show’ Host Through 2028
Jon Stewart has extended his contract with Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” for two years, keeping him as host through 2028 and the next US presidential election. His return to the programme in 2024 was followed by a ratings increase, and the extension keeps a prominent satirical news show under his leadership.
Stewart’s previous contract was due to end in 2026, following a one-year renewal in November 2025. He will continue alongside the show’s rotating hosts and remain an executive producer; he first hosted the programme from 1999 to 2015, before Trevor Noah took over. Paramount says “The Daily Show” is cable’s most-viewed programme on social media in 2026.
