The 26th World Soundtrack Awards, taking place on 10 October, have unveiled their nominees, with Jonny Greenwood, Alexandre Desplat and Hildur Guðnadóttir among those shortlisted for Film Composer of the Year. The nominations recognise a broad range of work across major 2026 releases, reflecting the diversity of contemporary film scoring from orchestral blockbusters to experimental soundscapes.

Greenwood, Radiohead's guitarist, is nominated for his "nerve-shredding" score to Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another", continuing the tension-filled style he brought to "Phantom Thread" and "The Power of the Dog". Two-time Oscar-winner Desplat is recognised for his work on "Jurassic World Rebirth", "Frankenstein" and "L'homme qui rétrécit", while Guðnadóttir, this year's guest of honour, is nominated for scores including "The Bride!" and "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple". Also shortlisted are Daniel Pemberton, for "Project Hail Mary" and "The Bad Guys 2" among others, and Max Richter for his Elizabethan-inflected score to "Hamnet"; separately, David Fleming and Finneas O'Connell feature among the Television Composer of the Year nominees.
