Sheffield United have signed veteran forward Jordan Ayew on a free transfer, with the Ghana captain putting pen to paper on a contract running until the end of the season. The move gives the Championship club experienced attacking reinforcement after Ayew became a free agent following his departure from Leicester City, adding a player with a long track record in English football to their squad.

The 34-year-old, who has previously played for Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Aston Villa among others, had been close to joining Blackburn Rovers earlier in the week, but that move collapsed, clearing the way for Sheffield United to move quickly and secure his signature.
