London club fixture Josh Caffé has released a new EP, "The Velvet Hour", via dh2, Dirty Hit's electronic sub-label, blending Chicago house, acid, electroclash and pop into a euphoric tribute to nightlife. Caffé, known for his long-running Love Child residency at fabric and past studio collaborations with Honey Dijon, spoke to Clash about the tracks that shaped the record's sound.

He picked five reference points spanning decades and styles: Prince's futuristic, vocally shape-shifting "The Future"; World Class Wreckin' Cru's playful mid-1980s electro-funk cut "Horny Computer"; Player's atmospheric, groove-driven "003 A1"; William Orbit's lush, immersive "Shine On Me"; and Phortune's raw acid house track "Jiggerwatts", which Caffé says still sounds fresh nearly 40 years on.
