Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme has said he would not want his band to headline stadium shows, despite having spent much of the summer performing in them. He made the comments on the We Might Be Drunk podcast after touring Europe with System of a Down and joining Foo Fighters for a run of North American stadium dates, saying the vast scale and impersonal atmosphere of such venues do not appeal to him even hypothetically.

Homme recalled watching System of a Down play two nights at 80,000-capacity venues in Europe and admitted he "can't comprehend" that scale, saying he would rather play smaller venues over several nights so the vibe stays intact, even if fewer fans get to see the band each time. He also criticised the cost of attending, referencing steep parking and beer prices, echoing remarks he made on stage in Detroit when he lit a cigarette and told the crowd not to let "corporate assholes" dictate their fun, later clarifying to Consequence that his gripe was with monopolistic pricing rather than smoking rules. Queens of the Stone Age continue their stadium run with Foo Fighters, including Mosaic Stadium and Allegiant Stadium, before returning to more intimate headline shows in Iceland and Japan, then arena dates in Australia and New Zealand with Primus later in 2026.
