Josh Jacobs ‘remorseful’ in first comments since domestic abuse arrest led to commissioner’s exempt list stay

Fox News ·

Josh Jacobs has apologised to his Green Bay Packers teammates and said he is remorseful as he returned to the team after spending six weeks on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list. The league is still investigating his case, but his removal from the list allows him to rejoin the Packers; the team has not said whether he will play against Detroit on Sunday.

Jacobs was arrested in May over an alleged incident involving his former girlfriend and later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. Under a plea deal, he must pay a $1,000 fine, attend counselling, pay restitution and have no contact with the victim; the property damage charge will be dismissed if he meets the conditions for a year. The Packers are 4-2 and averaging 59.8 rushing yards per game, while coach Matt LaFleur said he believes in second chances.
