JUDAS PRIEST: ‘Sad Wings Of Destiny’ 50th-Anniversary Archival Edition To Be Made Available During ‘Faithkeepers’ Summer 2026 Tour

Exciter Records has announced a newly restored 50th-anniversary edition of Judas Priest's 1976 album "Sad Wings Of Destiny", which will be sold on CD exclusively at merchandise stands during the band's "Faithkeepers" summer 2026 European tour. The release returns to the original 1976 analogue master tapes to present the album's mixes with improved fidelity while preserving the sound and character that made the record a landmark in heavy metal history.

The restoration involved preserving and transferring the original analogue masters at British Grove Studios in London, overseen by Tom Allom and Luie Stylianou, before Grammy-winning engineer Matt Colton remastered the audio at Metropolis Studios. The edition also restores the band's originally intended track order, opening with "Prelude". Exciter Records founder Michael Closter said the project offered a rare chance to work directly from the source tapes after decades of varied reissues, and the CD marks the first release in a wider 50th-anniversary campaign with further archival projects planned. Frontman Rob Halford has previously described the album as his personal favourite Judas Priest record.
