Dragami Games has confirmed that its new Lollipop Chainsaw title will get a "world premiere demo" at Tokyo Game Show 2026, giving fans their first hands-on look at the project since it was announced last year. The developer revealed the news via social media alongside new teaser artwork, and it matters because details on the sequel have been scarce, with fans keen to see how far the game strays from the tone of the 2012 original given the absence of confirmed involvement from original creators Suda51 and James Gunn.
Attendees at the SEGA/Atlus booth during TGS, which runs from 17th to 21st September, will be able to try an "early hands-on experience" with the demo, alongside a life-size chainsaw display and protagonist Juliet appearing in a new outfit. Dragami has said the project aims to preserve and build on the appeal of the original, developed by Suda51's Grasshopper Manufacture and co-written by James Gunn, with key returning staff and close attention to fan feedback; the studio also released the remaster Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP on Switch in 2024, which arrived on Switch 2 in May 2026 as a paid upgrade with improved graphics and a new gun mode.

Tokyo Game Show is a major annual video game trade fair in Japan, held this year from 17th to 21st September, where publishers and developers unveil new titles and let attendees try upcoming games first-hand. Lollipop Chainsaw is an action game originally released in 2012, made by Suda51's Grasshopper Manufacture and co-written by film director James Gunn, in which a cheerleader fights zombies with a chainsaw. It built a cult following for its distinctive humour and style.
Japanese publisher Dragami Games now owns the rights and has already released a remaster, RePOP, on Nintendo Switch. A new full sequel was announced last year, and Dragami has involved some of the original development team while gathering feedback from fans as it takes shape, though little about its story or gameplay has been revealed so far.
SEGA and Atlus, established names in Japanese gaming publishing, are also involved through their event presence, giving the new project more visibility at one of the industry's biggest showcases. This matters because it will be the first opportunity for the public to see and play the new game, offering an early indication of how the sequel might build on the original's reputation.
