Indonesian studio Visinema is planning to turn its fantasy film “Queen of Malacca” into its next major franchise, with a release targeted for the first quarter of 2027. The project signals the company’s push to build locally rooted intellectual property that can travel internationally, while expanding its production slate and regional partnerships.

Founder and director Angga Dwimas Sasongko says the film, now in post-production, has been developed over eight years and combines Southeast Asian martial arts, mythology, supernatural elements and visual effects. Blue Finch Films is handling worldwide sales, while potential distribution partners in China, Thailand and other markets are being discussed; Visinema also plans five 2027 films, a “Jumbo” sequel, another “Nussa” film and animation projects through 2030.
