Director Gareth Edwards has left the Jurassic World Rebirth sequel, citing "creative differences," according to sources who spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. Universal Studios confirmed the departure with a brief statement praising its collaboration with Edwards, but the project is reportedly continuing regardless, with a script already written by David Koepp, screenwriter of the original Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park.

No replacement director has been named, and it remains unconfirmed whether stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey will return, as scheduling is still being finalised. Jurassic World Rebirth was a major box-office success, grossing over $750 million worldwide including a $300 million opening weekend, and made Johansson the highest-grossing lead actor of all time, though critical reception was mixed, with IGN awarding it 5/10.
