The UK experienced its hottest summer on record in 2026, with repeated heatwaves and drought affecting much of the country. However, conditions varied significantly by location, making the postcode lookup useful for showing how individual areas compared with historical averages.

The UK’s average maximum daily temperature was 21.3°C, 2.4°C above the 1991–2020 average, while average rainfall was 195mm, 23% below normal. Southern England and Wales were especially hot, Scotland and Northern Ireland were closer to average, and only north-western Scotland received above-average rainfall.
