Bloomington-based shoegaze band Just Penelope, newly signed to Fire Talk's Angel Tapes imprint, have announced their debut EP Great Lake and shared its lead single "After". The imprint has previously introduced acts such as Shower Curtain and Sleeper's Bell, and Just Penelope's arrival adds another promising name to that roster, with the new track showcasing an explosive, catchy sound that draws on influences including Interpol and Deerhunter.

The four-piece, comprising Ella Curiel, Ethan Cantrell, Theo Erz and Drew Goforth, self-produced the EP, with Curiel emphasising the importance of capturing distinctive sounds through careful microphone technique. "After" arrives with an accompanying music video directed by Keegan Priest and Isaac Sanchez. Great Lake, a four-track EP, is due out on 18 September via Angel Tapes/Fire Talk, and the band will support its release with a US tour running from 1 to 15 August, taking in cities including Nashville, Philadelphia and Chicago.
