K.K. DOWNING On IAN HILL’s Retirement From JUDAS PRIEST: ‘I Wish Him Well, And All The Best For The Future’
K.K. Downing has wished Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill well after Hill announced his immediate retirement from the band. Downing said health issues can make retirement necessary and described Hill’s career as long and successful, while also recalling that Hill did not support Downing’s return to Judas Priest several years ago.
Downing said he and Hill helped form the band, first playing as a three-piece before singer Al Atkins joined and the group adopted the Judas Priest name. The 74-year-old guitarist is touring North America with his band KK’s Priest, which is supporting W.A.S.P.; he said the demanding schedule had brought no physical issues so far. He also sees performing classic Judas Priest songs as a way to keep the music alive.
