Country music star Kacey Musgraves will perform a tribute to Dolly Parton at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on 27 September. Parton, one of music's most beloved and important figures, passed away on 25 August aged 80, and major awards shows are honouring her legacy with performances and tributes from fellow artists. The VMAs will also pay respects to George Michael and Nirvana during the ceremony.

Musgraves, 38, has previously participated in all-star tributes to Parton whilst she was still alive, including at the 2016 CMA Awards and 2019 Grammy Awards. This will be her second VMAs performance overall, following her 2021 appearance. The awards show, hosted by Snoop Dogg from Los Angeles, will open with Madonna and feature performances from Lisa, Shaboozey and other artists. The ceremony airs on CBS and MTV on 27 September at 7:30–9:30 p.m. ET, with international streaming available the following day on Paramount+.
