Kagi Brings Back Old-School Search, One Human-Made Website at a Time
Kagi is expanding beyond its paid, privacy-focused search engine with a “Small Web” project designed to surface websites created and curated by people. The initiative responds to concerns that search and online publishing are increasingly shaped by advertising, algorithms and AI-generated material, and aims to recreate some of the discovery associated with the early web.
Kagi’s search service offers 100 free trial searches, then costs from $5 a month for 300 searches or $10 a month for unlimited searches and additional AI-assistant use. It says subscribers pay directly rather than through personal data or advertising, while its search results emphasise its own web and news indexes, non-commercial sites, and the absence of sponsored links; the Small Web feature lets users browse selected sites at random, save favourites and search for particular content.
- Kagi is promoting a curated, human-made “Small Web”.
