Kane Brown Teases Shania Twain Collab Is a ‘Guy’s Version’ of Her ‘Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under’

Billboard · 2 hours ago

Country star Kane Brown has previewed a new song, "Boots," a reimagining of Shania Twain's 1995 hit "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under," and revealed the two are collaborating on the track together. Where Twain's original was a pointed rebuke of a cheating partner, Brown's version flips the perspective to that of a devoted lover, reworking some of the song's melodies into what he calls "the guy's version." The collaboration matters as a notable pairing of a leading modern country hitmaker with one of the genre's biggest crossover stars, tied to a specific new release rather than just a cover.

Brown explained that the idea came together after he ran into Twain backstage at the ACM Awards while performing his song "Woman," and she later got in touch after hearing a demo; she gave her approval for the track to be released. The song, "Boots," is set to drop on Friday, 4 September, having already been previewed live at a concert in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on 9 August. Brown has had a dozen number-one hits on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, while Twain's original reached number 11 on the same chart in 1995 as part of her album "The Woman in Me."
