Kane set to begin talks over new Bayern contract

BBC Sport · 4 hours ago

Harry Kane says he is ready to open talks with Bayern Munich over a new contract, with the England captain entering the final year of his current deal. The 33-year-old striker, who has been prolific since his £86.4m move from Tottenham in August 2023, said negotiations are expected to begin "this week, next week" following his post-World Cup break, adding that both he and the club remain relaxed about the situation despite the contract's expiry approaching.

Kane scored 61 goals in 51 appearances last season as Bayern won the Bundesliga and cup double under Vincent Kompany, taking his overall tally to 146 goals in 147 games for the club, including 98 in 94 Bundesliga matches and three successive Golden Boots. He also had a strong 2026 World Cup, becoming England's all-time leading scorer at the tournament with 14 goals in 18 appearances, and is considered a contender for the Ballon d'Or, though he insisted his focus is on the new season rather than individual awards still months away from being decided.
