Kate Beckinsale, Dermot Mulroney, Robert Knepper and rapper Sticky Fingaz have joined the cast of action thriller Drifter, which is now filming in Cleveland and north-east Ohio. The project marks another production from director Randall Emmett and centres on a police chief under siege, with the film’s progress indicating active regional production for an independently financed thriller.

Beckinsale plays Wendy Ford, an interim police chief seeking to live up to her late father’s reputation. After she arrests a drifter with a concealed past, attackers posing as FBI agents and a mercenary team assault her isolated station to free a prisoner; the cast also includes Bill Sage, Beau Bommarito, Ema Horvath, Maia Kai and John Cerasani. Convergence Entertainment, founded by Emmett and Joel Cohen, is fully financing and producing the film with Dream Team Films.
