KATSEYE’s Sophia Says Her INXS Cover for ‘Forgotten Island’ Is ‘The Most Sophia Thing I Could Do’
Sophia Laforteza of KATSEYE has contributed a personal reimagining of INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart” to DreamWorks Animation’s *Forgotten Island* soundtrack. The song, used during an emotional scene about friendship and loyalty, offers a rare chance to hear Sophia outside KATSEYE while she is taking a temporary hiatus to focus on her well-being.
Sophia described the project as “the most Sophia thing” she could do, highlighting themes including Filipino culture, family, friendship and celebrating women. *Forgotten Island* follows childhood friends Jo and Raissa on a journey to Nakali, while the soundtrack also features Filipino and Filipino-American artists including BINI, SB19, Lea Salonga, H.E.R. and Ruby Ibarra; INXS’s original reached the Billboard Hot 100 top 10 in 1988.
