Ken Kao’s Waypoint Strikes First-Look With ‘Splitsville’ & ’80 For Brady’ Outfit Watch This Ready, First Project Revealed
Waypoint Entertainment, a prominent film financier led by Ken Kao, has solidified a formal partnership with indie production collective Watch This Ready, comprising directors Kyle Marvin and Michael Angelo Covino plus producer Emily Korteweg. The arrangement crystallises their existing creative relationship, building on their previous collaboration with Dakota Johnson's Splitsville, which premiered at Cannes and subsequently secured distribution through indie label Neon.
The deal's inaugural project is The Pull, a comedic thriller centring on a hustler navigating the high-value sports-card collecting world, with Marvin directing. Developed alongside Fanatics Studios, this marks another addition to Waypoint's expanding portfolio of independent and studio-adjacent productions, following recent backing of work from established filmmaking talent and generating festival selections and theatrical distribution deals.
