Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has confirmed that the studio has long wanted to cast Adam Driver, addressing months of speculation linking the actor to its upcoming X-Men reboot in roles such as Magneto or Mister Sinister. The confirmation matters because Driver, best known to blockbuster audiences as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, is one of the few major stars Marvel has repeatedly pursued without success, highlighting how even the most lucrative franchise in Hollywood cannot always secure the actors it wants.

Speaking on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feige acknowledged it is "no secret" Marvel wants to work with Driver, describing a recurring pattern in which the two sides hold talks by video call before Driver ultimately declines. Feige added that the actor is generally candid about his reasons for passing.
