Killer, 22, who bragged ‘I stabbed him’ after knifing accounting student to death on railway line is jailed for life
Dino Donaldson, 22, has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 23 years for murdering accounting student Anojan Gnaneswaran at Strawberry Hill station in south-west London. The killing followed a confrontation between two groups over a £50 drug deal, and the judge described it as a savage attack on a helpless young man.
Gnaneswaran, 21, was stabbed first in the abdomen and then in the chest after Donaldson followed him onto the railway tracks; he died at the scene shortly after midnight on 9 January 2024. Donaldson was recorded boasting about the stabbing less than an hour later and was arrested three days afterwards, when police found him hiding in a cupboard. He was convicted of murder at a retrial in April, and his barrister said he had experienced substantial trauma.
