King Charles has warned AI leaders that advanced technology could pose an “existential danger” if it falls into the wrong hands. At a summit he convened in Scotland, he urged executives and policymakers to ensure AI remains focused on serving humanity, communities and the natural world, amid growing calls for stronger safeguards.

The meeting included representatives from Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic and government and religious advisers. Nvidia chief Jensen Huang said safety should be paramount, while DeepMind co-founder Demis Hassabis said artificial general intelligence could be only a few years away and have an impact far exceeding the Industrial Revolution; attendees also stressed that managing AI risks would require international cooperation.
