Kingdom Hearts Is A “Billion-Dollar” Franchise, According To Disney
Disney has identified Kingdom Hearts as one of nine gaming franchises worth at least $1 billion, underlining the series’ commercial importance as it approaches its fourth main instalment. The announcement also reflects Disney’s broader strategy of treating games as a central way for audiences to engage with its characters and worlds.
Disney Games reportedly generated about $3.5 billion in annual consumer spending for several recent years, exceeding $4 billion in the latest financial year, while its Disney and Pixar mobile games have passed one billion installs since 2014. New native versions of several Kingdom Hearts titles are due for Switch and Switch 2 in October, and Disney will hold a Kingdom Hearts presentation on 15 August 2026 ahead of the series’ 25th anniversary next year.
