Heartstopper is concluding with a Netflix film, Heartstopper Forever, after three popular television series following Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring’s school romance. Stars Kit Connor and Joe Locke say the film provides a more cinematic final chapter, while stressing that joyful queer representation remains important amid wider political pressures.

The story centres on the couple facing a long-distance relationship as Nick leaves for university and Charlie completes his exams, alongside a Pride celebration in fictional Truham. It also addresses transgender issues through Elle Argent’s storyline, as well as eating disorders, mental health, alcohol dependency and family difficulties; Netflix says the film will be available in some countries where homosexuality remains criminalised. Connor and Locke, both 22 and now producers, say they helped represent the cast’s creative concerns.
