Knicks defend Taylor Swift after players name her ‘fakest celebrity fan’

Knicks players Tyler Kolek and Miles McBride questioned how genuine Taylor Swift’s support for the team was during a livestream, prompting the club to publicly defend her. The exchange drew attention because Swift has a longstanding connection to Madison Square Garden and has attended Knicks games over the years.

Kolek said he had seen Swift at only a few games and suggested some celebrities attend to be noticed, while acknowledging she is busy. The Knicks said she had been a fan for many years and that the organisation appreciated her support. Swift attended two games during the Knicks’ finals run this year; the team went on to beat the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game Five, securing its first championship in more than 50 years. She has also performed at Madison Square Garden and attended Knicks games in 2014.
