Korean film and content studio Showbox has launched Showbite, a new microdrama label that will begin releasing original short-form content from September, aiming to bring Korean storytelling to short-form drama audiences worldwide. The move sees an established film studio push into the fast-growing microdrama format, spanning a broad range of genres including romance, revenge, action-thriller, period drama, fantasy, mystery and horror.

The initial slate includes romance titles such as "Taste of You" and "Love in Thailand", female-led revenge dramas including "The Fallen Heiress Returns Wicked", the action crime-thriller "Asura: Return of the Reaper", period piece "The Secret Wife Exchange", and horror/mystery titles like "Lucky Horror Live Show" and "Bridal Shower: The Missing Bride". Showbite plans to showcase the label at Broadcast Worldwide in Seoul and the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Contents & Film Market to build international distribution partnerships, and will launch TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts in early September to promote the titles.
