Netflix’s musical fantasy film “KPop Demon Hunters” is receiving a prestige Criterion physical-media release, with newly revealed cover art featuring the HUNTR/X heroines and Derpy, their blue supernatural tiger. The release marks another milestone for the film after its unusually successful streaming, music and merchandising run, and signals its move into the collectors’ home-entertainment market.

Pre-orders are open for a two-disc Blu-ray priced at $39.95 and a 4K UHD edition at $49.95, although Criterion has not yet announced special features. Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the film follows K-pop stars Rumi, Mira and Zoey as secret demon hunters; it reportedly became 2025’s most-streamed film, won the Oscar for best animated feature, and produced a chart-topping soundtrack. KPop Demon Hunters is an animated musical fantasy film made for Netflix. It follows Rumi, Mira and Zoey, members of a fictional K-pop group who lead a second life fighting demons, with help from supernatural allies including a blue tiger called Derpy.

K-pop is a form of pop music from South Korea with a large international audience, often built around highly produced songs, dance and idol groups. The film combines that music-world setting with fantasy action, and its songs became an important part of its wider popularity.

Criterion is a US company known for releasing films on collectible discs, usually with restored picture and sound and extra material about how they were made. A Criterion edition places the film in the physical-media market for viewers and collectors, while Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation are also developing a sequel.
