The 2026 Humanitas Prize nominations have been announced, honouring television and film writers whose work explores the human condition in a nuanced way. Netflix's animated hit "KPop Demon Hunters" is nominated for family feature, while "Song Sung Blue", the drama starring Kate Hudson as the wife of a Neil Diamond tribute performer, is up for drama feature, and part two of HBO's Billy Joel documentary is nominated in the docuseries category.

The awards, first handed out in 1974, have previously honoured works including "ER", "Hidden Figures", "Encanto" and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel". This year's ceremony takes place on 9th September at Avalon Hollywood, hosted by writer-comedian Ashley Nicole Black, with "My So-Called Life" creator Winnie Holzman receiving the Kieser Award for humanitarian storytelling. Nominees span numerous categories, including drama and comedy teleplay, limited series, children's programming, and drama and comedy feature, with dozens of writers recognised across film and television.
