Kristaps Porzingis announces major Warriors update in emotional statement
Kristaps Porziņģis says he is stepping away from basketball to prioritise his health, after his body did not respond as he had hoped while preparing for the season. The 31-year-old has been absent from the Golden State Warriors throughout the campaign, leaving his playing future and the team’s arrangements with him uncertain.
Porziņģis was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) in 2025 and had said weeks earlier that he was considering stepping away. He said he wants to work with the Warriors on a solution; the team has not been paying his $20 million salary for this season, saying he was not rendering services.
In short
- Porziņģis is stepping away from basketball to focus on his health.
- He has missed the entire Warriors season.
- Golden State has withheld his $20 million salary.
