Kurosawa Kiyoshi, Shimizu Takashi Among Directors of Disney+, Hulu Japanese Horror Series ‘Night Tales Club’

Variety ·

Kurosawa Kiyoshi and Shimizu Takashi are among seven directors making “Night Tales Club”, a Japanese supernatural anthology series due to arrive on Disney+ and Hulu in January 2027. The six-part show centres on a businessman who investigates paranormal accounts, bringing celebrated horror filmmakers to a new streaming project.

Yamada Takayuki plays Hojo, who offers JPY20 million (about $126,000) in gold for firsthand supernatural stories backed by evidence. Each episode adapts a different story from Sawamura Ichi’s collection; six accounts are presented as Hojo searches for a hidden conspiracy behind what he calls paranormal “bugs”. Other directors include Katayama Shinzo, Sode Yukiko, Sakashita Yuichiro and Nakamura Yosuke, while Nakajima Kenji directs Hojo’s scenes.
