L.A.-based creator Sachin Kumar, who works under the name SCKACHI, has launched his own production company, Prema Creative Co., debuting with a 14-part vertical comedy series called Typecast. The show follows a fictionalised version of Kumar, an Indian-American actor navigating Hollywood while confronting typecasting, ambition and identity, and aims to depict Indian characters without the accents and stereotypical roles often seen in the industry. It reflects a wider trend of actors and creators building their own production and distribution outlets to retain control of their work, alongside a growing industry focus on vertical and microdrama content.

Typecast will roll out with two episodes weekly from 7 September, directed by Grayson Shapiro in his directorial debut, who previously worked as first assistant director on the hit horror film Obsession. The cast includes Venk Potula as the protagonist's manager Rafi and Tara Joshi as PR friend Tiff, alongside creators Chelsie Sik, Michelle Park, Karan Menon and Jonathan Gaurano. Kumar described the project as bridging Hollywood's traditional structures with the creator economy, while Prema Creative Co. is being positioned as a studio dedicated to telling and distributing BIPOC stories.
