Los Javis is the name used by Spanish directors Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, who also work as writers and performers. Guitarricadelafuente is a Spanish singer and actor; “La Bola Negra” brings the three artists together on a film project.

Film festivals often give awards to recognise filmmakers and performers, while screenings and question-and-answer sessions let audiences hear about their work. Miami Film Festival Gems is a Miami event where the honours and discussion will introduce the film to local audiences.

The festival recognition matters because it can draw attention to a film before it reaches wider audiences. “La Bola Negra” is also set for a release on Netflix, giving viewers beyond the festival circuit a chance to see it.
