Labour is facing renewed pressure to curb high pay in the NHS after a "Rich List" analysis found that nearly 600 health service executives now earn more than the Prime Minister, whose salary stands at £172,153. The findings have reignited criticism that senior NHS management is being rewarded generously even as the health service continues to struggle with long waiting lists and funding pressures, with critics arguing the government should act to rein in top-tier pay.

The analysis also found that the number of NHS bosses earning more than £300,000 a year has more than doubled, underlining a broader trend of rising executive remuneration across health trusts.
