Lady Gaga has received an Emmy nomination in the outstanding music and lyrics category for "The Dead Dance", a song she wrote for the second season of Netflix's "Wednesday". The nomination brings her career total to six Emmy nominations, adding to a Sports Emmy she won for her performance of "Hold My Hand" at the 2025 Super Bowl.
The song, co-written and produced with her regular collaborators Andrew Watt and Cirkut (Henry Russell Walter), features in Episode 7 of the Tim Burton-helmed series during a dance routine at the Venetian Gala. Gaga, who released the track last September and added it to her Mayhem Ball Tour setlist, said it was inspired by a breakup and the idea of "taking the power back". She also made a brief cameo as Nevermore teacher Rosaline Rotwood, but at under three minutes it left her ineligible to submit for best comedy guest actress. Emmy voting closes on 26 August, with the Creative Arts Emmys held on 5 and 6 September and the Primetime Emmy Awards announced on 14 September.

Lady Gaga is one of the pop world's biggest stars, known for hit songs and, more recently, for writing and acting in film and television. "Wednesday" is a popular Netflix series based on the Addams Family character, directed largely by Tim Burton, and Gaga contributed both a song and a small acting cameo to its second season.
The Primetime Emmy Awards are among the most prestigious prizes in American television, recognising achievement across acting, writing, music and other craft categories. Being nominated, let alone winning, is regarded as a significant career marker, and this nomination adds to a body of awards recognition Gaga has built across music, film and television.
This particular nomination is for a song Gaga wrote and recorded for the show, judged in the category covering original music and lyrics written for television. It comes as the wider industry moves through the Emmy nominations, voting and ceremony process that plays out over the coming months, culminating in the main awards show in mid-September.
