A large fire at a mixed-waste facility in Neasden, north-west London, prompted a major emergency response and disrupted Underground and rail services near Wembley Stadium. The incident affected the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines as well as trains to London Marylebone, while a nearby Amazon warehouse was evacuated.

Twenty fire engines and around 125 firefighters attended after the blaze was reported at 11.36am, with an industrial unit measuring roughly 100 by 150 metres alight. The fire was brought under control by about 5pm, though crews were expected to remain on site and its cause was under investigation; it was London’s third major recycling-centre fire of the summer, amid concern over incorrectly discarded lithium batteries.
