Metallica are set to bring their touring show to the Las Vegas Sphere from October, joining a growing list of major acts to hold residencies at the venue. Drummer Lars Ulrich has spoken candidly about how daunting the prospect is, recalling that watching U2 perform there left him "awestruck" and convinced that Metallica needed to create something genuinely different for their own run of shows.

The band will play 24 concerts at the Sphere, with the residency running from October 2026 into 2027 and a final date currently scheduled for March. Ulrich has kept details of the production under wraps but promised fans "another level" of show, while admitting the scale of the venue's technology feels "overwhelming" and "intimidating" even for a band with decades of touring experience behind them.
