Laufey loves being recognised as “the one from ‘Fortnite’”
Laufey has said she is enjoying being recognised as "the one from Fortnite" following her collaboration with the game earlier this year. The singer headlined Fortnite Festival season 14, which saw a concert experience inspired by her "A Matter Of Time" arena tour added to the game, along with her songs and character skins, marking an unexpected but well-received crossover between her classical-influenced pop and one of gaming's biggest platforms.
Speaking to The Hot Hits, Laufey described being recognised by a waitress at a restaurant, and revealed she plays Fortnite using her own in-game skin, sometimes encountering and shooting other players using the same character. She said her boyfriend and friends often play as her too, occasionally "killing" her without realising. Laufey worked closely with her twin sister and creative director Junia on the collaboration to keep it authentic, and has previously said the project helped show she has "more layers" beyond her early image as a soft-spoken jazz artist. Lil Tecca is the current Fortnite Festival headliner.
