Billboard · 7 hours ago

Lauren London has been cast as Beverly Tate, the mother of Snoop Dogg, in Universal Pictures' forthcoming biopic of the rapper, according to Deadline. The casting news follows a separate report confirming that actor Camron Jones will play 2Pac, Snoop's former Death Row Records collaborator, rounding out a cast that also includes Jonathan Daviss as Snoop Dogg and Myle Bullock Be as Dr. Dre.

The film, directed by Craig Brewer, is scheduled for release in US cinemas on 6 August 2027. Beverly Tate is credited with shaping Snoop's early life, including giving him his stage name after the Peanuts cartoon dog, while Snoop and 2Pac rose to fame together at Death Row Records in the mid-1990s. London has prior ties to Snoop, having appeared in his 2004 hit video "Drop It Like It's Hot", and her late partner Nipsey Hussle was previously offered the role of Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton before turning it down.
