Singer-songwriter Lawrence Rothman has released "Here Lies Love / Sawdust to Stardust," a 13-track album that completes a planned trilogy begun in 2021. The album follows 2024's "The Plow That Broke the Plains" and explores themes of generational trauma, self-destruction, and existence in a politically charged, AI-dominated world through an Americana framework that Rothman defines as encompassing soul, R&B, folk, country, rock and punk influences. Rothman was inspired to create the trilogy format after reading Henry Miller's Rosy Crucifixion series as a teenager and has said he always wanted to make a series of records in a similar manner.

The album, released via KRO Records, features collaborations with songwriters including Madi Diaz, Katie Pruitt, and Amanda Shires, with Shires and Pruitt serving as repeat contributors across the trilogy. A standout track is "Karmakaze," co-written with Jillian Jaqueline, which serves as a thematic sequel to Rothman's earlier song "Thrash the West" from the first album and explores themes of anxiety and depression through lyrics such as "We're going down like a karmakaze, still alive but the odds against me." A music video for "Karmakaze," directed by Rothman's wife and creative partner Floria Sigismondi, features the artist performing against a desolate desert backdrop, with Rothman planning to tour the album throughout September and October at venues including clubs and rock rooms.
