Le Court takes Tour green jersey with Great Orme stage win

BBC Sport · 3 hours ago

Kim Le Court of Mauritius won stage three of the Tour of Britain Women, a 104.7km route from Mold to the Great Orme in Llandudno, breaking clear of rivals three kilometres from the finish. The victory hands the AG Insurance-Soudal rider the overall green leader's jersey, a reversal of fortune after she led the race at the same point last year before crashing out on the second stage.

Le Court finished 13 seconds ahead of Germany's Liane Lippert (Movistar), with Sweden's Caroline Andersson third, and now leads the general classification by 26 seconds from Lippert, with the Netherlands' Lorena Wiebes third overall. Wiebes, who had won the first two sprint stages, lost both the overall lead and the points jersey to Le Court despite finishing close behind on the day. Britain's Lauren Dickson took the mountains jersey, while Belgium's Fleur Moors retained the young rider's white jersey. The race has taken place under heightened scrutiny over rider safety following the death of Welsh cyclist Fin Tarling, who was struck by a vehicle during the Volta a Portugal a week earlier.
