Leeds United have completed the £8.5m signing of Swiss international defender Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach, reuniting him with manager Daniel Farke, who previously managed him at the Bundesliga club in 2022-23. The 29-year-old has signed a three-year deal at Elland Road, becoming Leeds' fourth summer signing as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The deal is worth an initial £6.8m, with a further £1.7m in add-ons, and ends Elvedi's 11-year spell at Monchengladbach, where he made 364 appearances. He has 73 caps for Switzerland, having played every minute of their run to the World Cup quarter-finals, and follows James Trafford, Harry Wilson and Tarik Muharemovic through the door this window; his arrival also freed Sebastiaan Bornauw to join Hamburg on loan. Leeds open their Premier League campaign away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
