Actress Lena Headey has criticised Hollywood for offering "weird protection" to "predatory men" who exploit their power over vulnerable actresses, while also reflecting on the surprising backlash she faced over a nude scene in Game of Thrones. The Cersei Lannister star told The Telegraph she was "shocked" by accusations that she had "duped the audience" after using a body double for her character's naked walk of shame in Season 5, explaining that safety and the emotional demands of the scene made the decision necessary given she was surrounded by 3,000 extras.

Headey also revisited her past allegations against Harvey Weinstein, who is serving a prison sentence for multiple sexual assault convictions, recalling suggestive comments he made at the Venice Film Festival and an invitation to his hotel room under the pretext of discussing a script. She said the disproportionate power such men hold, combined with actresses' financial need to keep working, allows abuse to persist, adding that it was only after the #MeToo movement broke in 2017 that the scale of the problem became clear. She noted that younger actresses today are far more willing to refuse uncomfortable demands.
