Leo Reich on Capturing Gen Z Angst in ‘It Gets Worse,’ Scoring a Lena Dunham Cameo and Having ‘Loads of Ideas’ for a Potential Season 2

Leo Reich’s comedy series, *It Gets Worse*, follows three friends in their twenties as they struggle with love, work and relationships in London. Written by and starring Reich, the show portrays the gap between the romanticised idea of city life and the less glamorous reality of adulthood, capturing anxieties he says are shared by Gen Z.

The series is A24’s first UK-made show and began streaming on Channel 4 before its planned US premiere on Paramount+. Reich says its characters are fictional, though each reflects different aspects of him; the romantic misadventures draw on experiences involving many people. The article also highlights the show’s cameos and Reich’s enthusiasm for developing ideas for a possible second season.
