Leslie Odom Jr. is due to return to the West End production of “Hamilton” on Friday evening after leaving Thursday’s matinee after the first act. The reason for his departure has not been disclosed, but the incident matters because Odom’s limited return as Aaron Burr has attracted high demand and high ticket prices.

Odom was replaced during the matinee by Manaia Glassey-Ohlson and did not perform that evening, while he is already scheduled to be absent from Monday to Wednesday. His London run at the Victoria Palace Theatre lasts from 3 July to 5 September; tickets range from £128 to £500, and some fans who travelled long distances said they were disappointed despite wishing him well.
