Lightdox Acquires ‘Auber 89’ Ahead Of Doc’s World Premiere at Venice Film Festival Sidebar Giornate Degli Autori
Lightdox has acquired international sales rights to Giuseppe Schillaci’s documentary Auber 89 before its world premiere at Venice Film Festival sidebar Giornate degli Autori. The film follows French Algerian actor Fatsah Bouyahmed as archival footage from his youth helps him reconnect with memories lost after an accident, while examining the social history of Paris’s suburbs.
The documentary premieres on 10 September in the Notti Veneziane programme, followed by a Q&A. Using television and VHS footage from the 1980s, it explores family, friendship and daily life alongside racism, inequality and exclusion in the Aubervilliers housing estate; it is a French-Italian co-production led by Label Vidéo, with Lightdox handling global sales.
