Lil Nas X has shared a voicemail from his late mother, Tamikia Hill, encouraging him to keep going and “walk by faith, not by sight”. The post links the message to his recovery after spending several months in mental health treatment and announces a new single, “World’s Greatest”, making the announcement a personal tribute as well as a musical release.

The 44-second clip shows the rapper listening to the recording before revealing a sketch pad bearing the song’s title and a crown. The single and its official music video are due on 1 October at 12pm Eastern Time. Lil Nas X said his mother often used the phrase in the voicemail; he had previously said he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and entered rehab for support.
