Lil Uzi Vert missed his own Lollapalooza set on Friday after stormy weather led organisers to cancel it, on a day that also marked the rapper's 31st birthday. Despite the cancellation, he still appeared at the Chicago festival, surprising fans by joining Major Lazer onstage to perform "Just Wanna Rock", and marked his birthday by releasing a surprise new EP.

The festival cited weather issues for pulling his set, though an onstage announcement referred instead to "travel complications". The surprise EP, Maverick "Almost Forever", is his first project since 2024's Eternal Atake 2 and arrived exactly ten years after his 2016 mixtape The Perfect LUV Tape.
